Love is in the fare.
This Valentine’s Day, some of our favorite restaurants are spreading the love with everything from otherwise-impossible reservations to tempting holiday specials to blow-out holiday tasting menus. So whether you’re looking to impress a new beau, celebrate with your dearest, or put the whole hullabaloo behind you with a drink or 10, we’ve got you covered.
A La Carte Menus
Brand-new Fairmount BYOB A Mano will serve their regular menu over Valentine’s Day weekend, with a few luxe additions available for those who want to make their meal extra special for the holiday. With seats at normally first-come, first-served Tredici Enoteca going fast, the restaurant will break from house policy and offer reservations on Valentine’s Day. They will serve their well-received a la carte menu, with blacktruffle specials. Sister restaurant Zavino will be open their normal hours, serving their popular a la carte menu of hand-crafted pastas, baked-to-order pizzas, artisanal charcuterie and cheeses and wholesome vegetable dishes at both their Midtown Village and University City locations.
Menu Additions and Holiday Specials
All four Tria locations will offer Valentine’s Day specials: Rittenhouse Square, WashWest and Fitler Square will offer 10 different rosé wines, both still and sparkling, for $10 a glass on Friday, February 12 and Saturday, February 13, plus Broc Cellars’ Love White, a Marsanne-Rousanne-Viognier blend from a boutique California producer, as their Sunday School Wine on Sunday, February 14. Tria Taproom will feature Valentine’s Day beers, such as LoverBeer and more. Urban Farmer will feature a lavish Valentine’s Day dinner for two, including bacon-wrapped, 21-day dry-aged tenderloin and a mousse trio for dessert. All Iron Hill locations will offer special, seasonal menu items from their chefs, from oysters on the half shell to red velvet cheesecake parfait; in addition, each location will feature Cherry Vanilla Porter, their award-winning Pig Iron Porter aged with whole vanilla beans and finished with concentrated Michigan sour cherry juice, with dark roasted malt flavors that give way to a sour cherry finish.
Prix Fixe Menus
SOUTH will offer a tempting second menu as specials on Friday, 2/12 and as an exclusive prix fixe menu on Saturday and Sunday 2/13-2/14, including duck confit gumbo and Carolina trout. The restaurant will also open for a very special three-course prix fixe Valentine’s Day brunch on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.; seatings are limited, and can be booked either in the dining room or the jazz parlor, including a live performance from Anna Cecelia. Acclaimed Old City restaurant Fork will offer a special prix fixe menu for the holiday, and while menu items are subject to change to reflect the freshest available ingredients, the meal may include rabbit terrine with poached quince and black truffle and NY strip steak with beef fat potatoes. Optional luxurious add-ons, such as Italian white sturgeon caviar with soft-scrambled eggs, crème fraîche and pickles, will also be available. At nearby High Street on Market, the kitchen will offer a special multi-course “Leave It To Us” Tasting Menu, featuring a selection of plates to share. On both Saturday and Sunday, 2/13 and 2/14, London Grill will offer a prix fixe menu of three courses from Chef Michael McNally, including lobster bisque and veal breast with crispy sweetbreads. Townsend will offer a romantic prix fixe menu featuring luxury ingredients, with an optional wine pairing; dishes will include lobster-scallop roulade with savoy cabbage, black truffles and lobster jus and their justly revered chocolate soufflé for two with Pernod chantilly.
Guests are invited to get out of town and spend Valentine’s Day weekend at The Reeds at Shelter Haven with a decadent overnight package, available either Friday to Saturday, 2/12 to 2/13 or Saturday to Sunday, 2/13 to 2/14, including everything from Champagne and strawberries upon arrival to a late checkout, with a lavish dinner at SAX restaurant and cocktails in the lounge in between, featuring live entertainment.
