While having beer for dinner is never beneath us, to limit ourselves to liquid meals would be to miss out on the joys of pairing beer with food. Enter Chef Jeremy Nolen of Brauhaus Schmitz and his cookbook, New German Cooking, a must-read for anyone who has ever harbored a craving for comfort food. Tonight at 7 p.m., Chef Nolen will prepare and serve a four-course dinner drawn from the book, all paired with rare and delicious German beers. $70 gets you the whole shebang, and just in case you want to try your own hand at cooking and pairing, copies of the book will be on sale, and Chef Nolen will sign them, to boot.
